About Aluvia Photonics

Aluvia Photonics is a pioneering pure-play foundry specializing in Aluminum Oxide (Al₂O₃)-based photonic integrated circuits (PICs). Our mission is to push the boundaries of optical communication, sensing, and quantum applications through cutting-edge photonic technology. We are looking for a Process Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development and fabrication of our advanced photonic devices.

Job Overview

As a Process Engineer, you will work hands-on in a cleanroom environment, developing and optimizing fabrication processes for Al₂O₃-based PICs. You will operate semiconductor processing tools, conduct in-line characterization, and ensure process consistency and reliability. The ideal candidate has experience in lithography, etching, and deposition, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize process performance. You will also be responsible for tracking process parameters, troubleshooting issues, and supporting process integration workflows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cleanroom Operations: Work hands-on in a cleanroom environment, operating and maintaining semiconductor processing tools.

  • Process Development & Optimization: Develop and refine fabrication processes, including ebeam lithography, photolithography, thin-film deposition (PVD, ALD, CVD), and dry/wet etching.

  • Process Flow & Integration: Define process integration flows, follow standard procedures, and ensure process reproducibility.

  • In-line Characterization: Utilize metrology tools (SEM, AFM, profilometry, ellipsometry, etc.) to assess process quality and performance.

  • Data Analysis & Process Control: Collect and analyze data to track process parameters, identify trends, and ensure yield optimization.

  • Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve process issues, working closely with cross-functional teams to improve reliability and efficiency.

  • Planning & Documentation: Plan and execute process runs, document results, and provide detailed reports to support R&D and production.

  • Collaboration & Communication: Work effectively with design, integration, and testing teams to align process development with overall company goals.

Qualifications & Skills

Required

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Nanotechnology, or a related field.

  • Hands-on experience with semiconductor fabrication tools for lithography, etching, and deposition.

  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and optimize semiconductor processes.

  • Experience with metrology and characterization tools such as SEM, AFM, profilometry, and ellipsometry.

  • Structured and detail-oriented approach to process development and execution.

  • Ability to analyze process data and track performance trends.

  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team.

  • Good planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Preferred

  • Experience working in the Mesa+ Nanolab is a strong plus.

  • Familiarity with 100mm or 200mm wafer processing lines.

  • Experience with statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE).

  • Programming skills for data analysis (Python, MATLAB, JMP, etc.).

What We Offer

  • An opportunity to work in a high-tech startup environment focused on innovative photonic technologies.

  • Hands-on experience with state-of-the-art semiconductor fabrication tools.

  • A collaborative and dynamic work culture that fosters innovation and growth.

  • Competitive salary and benefits package.

  • Career development opportunities in a rapidly growing company.

If you are excited about semiconductor processing and photonic technologies, we encourage you to apply and become part of the Aluvia Photonics team!
